mission statement

This mission of dazaun.dance is to create art that illuminates the fullness of the soul. This is achieved by using collaborative processes, which have been termed “movement playgrounds,” to illuminate the experience of underrepresented communities in relationship to other fractions of society. These movement playgrounds consist of the cooperative development of movement phrases and improvisational scores, explorations of a site’s layout and physical structure in relationship to the human body, and the study of the body’s structure through the lenses of velocity and weight sharing. Through the vision and direction of the Artistic Director Dazaun Soleyn, dazaun.dance bravely share their truths through movement-based productions that energizes a performance space and our community.
